Born in Los Angels, California, Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Veight and Marcheline Bertrand. She is the younger brother of actor James Haven, the niece of singer-songwriter Chip Taulor, and the godson of actors Jasqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. In his father's aisle, Jollie is of German and Slovak descent, and by his mother, he is from French, Dutch, and German descent.
